Fuel Systems for Forklifts

Fuel Systems for Forklifts

around the web

Fuel Systems for Forklifts - The fuel systems task is to supply your engine with the gasoline or diesel it needs to be able to run. If whatever of the fuel system parts breaks down, your engine would not run right. There are the main parts of the fuel system listed below:

Fuel Tank: The fuel tank is a holding cell for your fuel. When filling up at a gas station, the fuel travels downward the gas hose and into your tank. Inside the tank there is a sending unit. This is what tells the gas gauge the amount of gas is within the tank.

Fuel Pump: In nearly all newer cars, the fuel pump is typically placed inside the fuel tank. Several older vehicles have the fuel pump connected to the engine or located on the frame rail between the engine and the tank. If the pump is within the tank or on the frame rail, then it is electric and works with electricity from your cars' battery, whereas fuel pumps that are attached to the engine utilize the motion of the engine in order to pump the fuel.

Fuel Filter: For overall engine life and performance, clean fuel is essential. The fuel injector is made up of small holes which block easily. Filtering the fuel is the only way this can be avoided. Filters can be found either after or before the fuel pump and in some instances both places.

Fuel Injectors: The majority of domestic cars after the year 1986, together with earlier foreign cars came from the factory with fuel injection. In place of a carburetor to perform the task of mixing the air and the fuel, a computer controls when the fuel injectors open to be able to let fuel into the engine. This has resulted in lower emission overall and better fuel economy. The fuel injector is basically a tiny electric valve that opens closes with an electric signal. By injecting the fuel close to the cylinder head, the fuel stays atomized, or within small particles, and could burn better when ignited by the spark plug.

Carburetors: Carburetors have the job of taking the fuel and mixing it with the air without whatever involvement from a computer. Carburetors need repeated tuning and rebuilding although they are simple to operate. This is among the main reasons the newer vehicles on the market have done away with carburetors instead of fuel injection.
